After the Lord of the Rings movies, the fantasy genre got a second life. Weaving adventure threads into a pseudo-medieval tapestry is a staple of the Elf world, and MU delivers it to you in an unpretentious way.
You start as a dark wizard, dark knight, or elf, with corresponding strengths and weaknesses. You can save different base characters, which is an interesting feature that allows you to start the game as a wizard, then restart and switch to a knight – but not both at the same time. Your character’s appearance will change to reflect any new equipment you acquire, including wings and spells. A coordinate system is also displayed, making it easier to move around the complex MU world.
Items can be combined in many different ways, but more game experience will get you better gear. You can even fight other players, but beware: if you kill too many innocents, you’ll be labeled a murderer.
The installation process for MU is frustratingly poorly documented like most MMORPGs. To make matters worse, when we played the game, the game’s servers showed hesitation and slowness, interfering with the smoothness of the game. Once, it even killed us!
Considering there are better free-to-play fantasy games out there, MU lacks in too many areas to warrant a download for all but the most die-hard fans of the genre.
